Each year the Office of the Vice President for Research solicits applications from VCU faculty for participation in Oxford’s Harris Manchester College Summer Research Institute. The Summer Research Institute is an opportunity for faculty to spend a week away from the usual routine to focus on a scholarly area of interest. The Institute draws scholars with diverse interests from many U.S. universities. Your time is your own for study and writing, as well as taking advantage of cultural activities offered at Oxford University and the surrounding area. The Institute is generally scheduled for a week in late June/early July.
The week includes:
ELIGIBILITY: This opportunity is open for up to three VCU faculty members. One position will be open to a member of VCU’s Conflict of Interest Committee, Institutional Review Boards, Institutional and Animal Care and Use Committee or Biosafety Committee who proposes a study that focuses on the responsible conduct of research. The individual selected for this position is supported by the Rosemary Holden Kelso Fellowship. The other position(s) will be open to any VCU faculty members whose research or scholarly project will benefit from the unique resources available at Oxford University. Application criteria: Submission of the application form (see below), a CV or CV summary not to exceed 3 pages, a statement from the Department Chair endorsing the application, and a brief (no longer than 2 single-spaced pages, at least 10-point font) proposal that meets the following criteria:
