The IRB – The Exempt, the Expedited, and the Full Board
If your research involves human subjects, it is important to understand the different levels of regulatory review required. Anyone anticipating submitting a study for IRB review who is unfamiliar with VCU's process is encouraged to attend.

  • Biomedical research focus
  • Social behavioral research focus

5th Thursday Human Participant Protections Series
Targeted to research coordinators and administrators, research nurses, investigators, IRB members, and IRB staff, this series features various speakers and topics relevant to the conduct of human participant research. Session I is for IRB members only and Session II is open.

4th Friday Research Coordinator Network
This monthly session includes topics on the conduct of research and targets research coordinators.

Conducting Animal Research at VCU
This orientation is required for new and new-to-VCU researchers. Orientation and updates are offered semi-annually.

Non-human Primate Research
Offered annually, this session is required for all personnel working with non-human primates.

3rd Friday Lab Technician Network>
Various topics in animal research are presented and discussed among lab technicians and those involved in animal research.
