Policies and Guidelines

The world of research is sustained by standards that facilitate public trust and by financial support from outside sponsors including federal, state, non-profit, and private entities.

Developing policies and guidelines is the principal means for institutions to clearly define their standards for the responsible conduct of research, communicate those standards, and protect the interests of faculty, staff, students and the institution.  In addition, significant responsibility accompanies the conduct of research, and a steadily growing body of regulation places accountability on all participants.  The links on the left margin provide direct access to VCU policies, guidelines, and oversight pertaining to research.  In addition, the VCU Research Compliance Matrix provides an expanded view of all areas of responsible conduct of research, with navigational links to training programs, forms, and other resources.
