Scope of Activities:

Educating VCU members about intellectual property and technology transfer

Evaluating the commercial potential and patentability of new technologies

Managing the filing and prosecution of patents

Registering copyrights and trademarks

Marketing and licensing VCU technologies

Negotiating license and other research support agreements

Negotiating material transfer and non-disclosure agreements

Assisting in the negotiation of sponsored research and clinical trial agreements

Receiving and distributing royalties and other income to the VCU inventors, schools and departments

Reporting intellectual property and invention utilization for compliance with research funding sponsors

Fostering entrepreneurship in the university

Mission
VCU Tech Transfer's mission is to foster a culture of innovation at the university and to protect and commercialize inventions created by the VCU research enterprise for the benefit of the university, its members, and the public.
