The purpose of the Office of Education and Compliance Oversight is to serve as an educational and ethics resource to faculty, staff, students, IRB and IACUC members and staff, and interested research participants at VCU. We view the ethical conduct of research and research compliance as the result of a thorough understanding of ethical principles that form the foundation of federal and state regulations for the protection of human and animal subjects in research. Your questions and concerns about possible non-compliance in research are approached as educational opportunities for investigators and research staff.

Educational services include: Individual consultation with IRB and IACUC members, investigators, and research personnel. Group or class presentations and seminars are available upon request. In addition, the OECO hosts a variety of educational programs for target audiences, although participation is generally open to all who are interested.
