VCU IRB Submission Deadlines and Meeting Dates

Submission Deadlines

Full Board Amendments and Changes Requested by the VCU IRB	9 business days prior to the meeting date
Full Board Initial Reviews	We cannot guarantee review by a particular panel for new submissions, regardless of submission date. Assignment of new submissions to an IRB panel is dependent upon the nature of the research, the number of studies already assigned to that panel for review, etc. 1,2
Expedited and Exempt Reviews	Expedited and Exempt research is reviewed on an ongoing basis. There are no deadlines for Initial Reviews. Refer to Continuning Review Notice for required deadlines for Continuing Review submissions for Expedited studies.

Full Board Meeting Dates

VCU IRB Panel	Meeting Dates
Panel A	2nd Thursday of each month
Panel B (Social/Behavioral Research)1	1st Thursday of each month
Panel C	4th Thursday of each month
Panel D2	3rd Thursday of each month

1 Panel B is the only panel to review Full Board Social/Behavorial Research, with the exception of research involving prisoners (see footnote2 below). The submission deadline for Full Board Initial Review by Panel B is on the Monday, 10 days prior to the Full Board Meeting Date.

2 Panel D is the only panel to review research involving prisoners. The submission deadline for Full Board Initial Review by Panel D is on the Monday, 17 days prior to the Full Board Meeting Date.

Note: Submissions that are incomplete or which have outstanding issues noted at IRB intake may result in a delay in the review process.

Western IRB (WIRB) reviews all industry sponsored research.	Please contact WIRB for information regarding deadlines and meeting dates.
